Set up your first device

The ShopTech app lives at go.shoptech.app. Open it on the device you’ll use at the counter. On a phone or tablet, add it to the home screen when the app offers, so it opens full screen.

Connect the device

1. On the Connect this device to your Shopify store screen, type your store name in Shopify store. The .myshopify.com part is filled in for you.
2. Choose Connect with Shopify and approve in Shopify.
3. The first person through is the owner. Create a 4 to 6 digit PIN on the Create your PIN screen and confirm it.

Only the first device connects this way. Every other device is paired with a code from a device that’s already set up.

Choose a location

If your store has more than one active Shopify location, the device asks which one it is operating from. Work orders, purchase orders, special orders, and stocktakes made on this device belong to that location. Shops with a single location skip this screen.

You can change it later in Settings → Shops → Current shop, or from the Operating from chip on the dashboard.

First-run setup

The first admin to sign in sees a short setup wizard. Only the first step is required; Skip for now is available on the rest, and everything can be changed later in Settings.

1. Labor & products. Do you already sell labor or service in Shopify? Choose the product type you use, or choose No, not yet to create one. ShopTech offers starter services like a basic tune-up and flat repair with prices you can edit.
2. Your team. Add staff by first name, last name, and role, and set a PIN for each. See Staff and roles.
3. Work orders. Optionally import open work orders from a CSV. Download the template, fill it in, and choose the location to import to.
4. Suppliers. Connect the distributors you buy from. See Suppliers.
5. You’re all set. Choose Go to ShopTech.

Unlocking and locking

Every staff member has their own PIN and it works on any of the shop’s devices. Type it on the lock screen to unlock. The device locks itself after 15 minutes idle and whenever the app goes to the background; both are adjustable in Settings → General → Auto-Lock. On the dashboard, the lock icon locks the device right away.

Locking discards anything you haven’t saved.
