What lives in Shopify

ShopTech is built on top of Shopify. It reads Shopify data live and writes back through Shopify’s API, so there’s one copy of your commerce data and it’s Shopify’s.

In Shopify (edit in either place)

Record	Notes
Customers	ShopTech has no customer copy. Adding or editing a customer in ShopTech changes Shopify immediately.
Products and variants	Labor is a product type. Imports and Quick Add create Shopify products and publish them to POS.
Inventory	ShopTech adjusts it when you receive a purchase order, complete a stocktake, or set opening stock on a new product.
Locations	Read only. Add or retire locations in Shopify; ShopTech picks them up when the Shops page loads or a device refreshes.
Orders and payments	Every sale happens in Shopify POS. ShopTech reads paid orders and fulfills web orders.
Store credit	Deposits are held as store credit on the customer.

In ShopTech

Work orders and their lines, service items, special orders, purchase orders and receipts, stocktakes, staff and PINs, text-message consent, registered serial numbers, payments on account, and settings.

Uninstalling

Uninstalling the app disconnects the shop right away and stops all background work. Your ShopTech data is kept, and reinstalling restores it. About 48 hours after uninstall, Shopify asks ShopTech to delete the shop’s data, and it is removed for good.
